Caravan Site News



15/04/2019       Its been a while. A brand-new toilet and shower is on site, Please note that while improvements are in progress at times there may be only one toilet/shower available.

10/02/2015       Due to work commitments I have been unable to spend time on the website, or camp site. There have been a few changes, notably the “Hut” is no longer available and Kathy will continue her work on the site taking on more responsibilities. The A11 improvements are complete; Access to Norwich and Thetford is now possible avoiding the Brandon bottleneck and a more direct route is available to Bury St Edmunds.

30/04/2013       The first cuckoo heard from the campsite was last Saturday 27th April. The Bitten are starting to be heard from the campsite too.

13/03/2013       After several emails I have received a call from a Rights of Way Support Officer informing me the foot paths around the site will be cut twice a year. Fingers crossed!
08/02/2013       Good news, Network Rail has improved the footpath crossing on the public path that leads to the RSPB Lakenheath Fen reserve. Improvements on the public foot path across Botany Bay are on-going and after a closure, may be early next year, the path will be raised for better access when the river is high.

01/02/2013       Work has started on the A11 Fiveways (Mildenhall) roundabout to Thetford improvements. Information about closures and maps can be found here. If you are approaching on the A11 from Newmarket/Cambridge it would be advisable, at busy times, to leave the Dual carriageway at Red Lodge, turn right at the end of the slip road, then left at the roundabout following the signs to Worlington. Then turn right at the T junction heading for Mildenhall, joining the A1101 at the mini roundabout in Mildenhall and head towards Littleport/Lakenheath.

07/08/2012       Summer has finally arrived (I hope) prices are back to normal and next doors barn Owl is doing well and has been seen most evenings.

07/06/2012       Because of the dreary weather and the installation of a new, economical sewage system I have decided to lower the price per pitch to £10 including hook-up until the ground works regenerate with grass.

27/02/2012       I will be able to offer for hire open canoes on the Lakenheath New Lode. More information will be available soon. If you would like to book a canoe please use the contact page. A dedicated web page with photos, terms of use etc. will appear soon.

03/11/2011       My planning application has been approved by Forest Heath Council. More information can be found here..

14/10/2011       I spotted a Short Eared Owl yesterday. Added a face book and twitter link, not sure how they work....May have to employ a teenager!

13/10/2011       Coming soon. By the end of November I plan to have on line availability and booking with card payment. In conjunction with Christmas Hill Farm Shop I look forward to provide online purchasing of meat, veg. eggs, etc and readymade meals, collected and waiting for your arrival on site.


12/10/2011       The Lakenheath Lode has a clear route for canoes through to the Little Ouse River from the sluice. I will have at least one Canadian canoe and one single person sit on canoe available for hire by Easter 2012. If there is enough interest I may invest in more boats. We were full last Easter so book your pitch and boat early.

26/04/2011       A Kingfisher has been seen in Botany Bay on The Lakenheath New Lode


27/04/2011       Nightingales have been heard from the site and seen in Botany Bay.


15/04/2011       Two additional electrical hook-ups will be available from 18/04/2011.


10/03/2011       From 1st April 2011 we will charge £7.50 per unit per night. Visitors arriving on foot or by bike will be charged at £5 per unit. Electrical hook-up will remain at £3 per night.
The price increase and unit unification is designed to be a reflection of vehicle movements. The access road is privately owned and although we have access we are obliged to make a contribution to its up keep. Any comments? Please use the Contact us page.

18/09/2010       I now have a shop on the website in association with Amazon. As I get a small percentage of the shop sales it will help with the upkeep of the site. Shop.

24/02/2010       A replacement temp. toilet/shower facility is on the way and will be available in a few weeks

31/10/2009       Due to frost damage the temporary facility has had to be removed and will not be replaced until planning has been obtained for a permanent shower and toilet block. We hope this will not take long but are in the hands of the council planning department. Please check here for updates.

31/10/2009       Planning for a toilet and shower facility is under way. Hopefully I will have more information early in the New Year.

09/05/2009       Bad News! Due to the cost of electricity for the shower from 15th June the pricing for a tent will change to per person instead of per tent.

08/05/2009       It is now possible to check availability by using the bookings. Removed due to time consumption. A better system may be introduced in the future.

07/04/2009        Good News. Three electrical hook ups are now available. Two more may be added in the near future depending on demand. Please use the contact us form or call to check availability.

31/12/2008        An electrical hook up is available. There is also a temporary toilet and shower facility on site. Additional electrical hook ups coming soon.


3/10/2008        An electrical hook up will be available from 9th October. There is also a toilet on site with a shower and additional electrical hook ups coming soon.

22/07/2008        EDF Energy Have Finally done their bit, now we wait for a meter and an electrician to connect us.


18/07/2008        Apparently EDF energy are short staffed due to illness. They promise to start work Monday 21st. As soon as they are done we can get the meter installed.
